Pelican Argo 136XP

The Argo 136XP is the longest kayak in this selection at 13 feet 6 inches. Two Ergofit seats, adjustable footrests and a rear hatch with a 60 L storage bag give the tandem a different layout from the open-deck River Gorge.

Compare this tandem when both paddlers prefer a sit-in arrangement. Try the seating together: a boat can suit each person in isolation but still feel crowded once day bags and paddles are involved.

The trade-off

The 500 lb limit must cover both people and all gear. Its narrower beam and lower published weight than the River Gorge do not remove the challenge of handling a thirteen-and-a-half-foot hull.
