Pelican Sentinel 100X Angler

A shorter fishing kayak with removable tackle storage.

At 9 feet 6 inches, the Sentinel 100X Angler is the shortest kayak in this comparison. Its ExoPak compartment, rod holders and center console organize a fishing load without the wider hull of the Catch Classic models.

Pack the ExoPak separately

The rear compartment is removable and has two vertical rod holders of its own.

Rod positions

Two flush-mounted holders in the kayak bring the total to four when the ExoPak is fitted.

Near the seat

The center console, phone holder and paddle/rod tie-downs create separate places for small gear.

Where it fits

Look at the Sentinel when a shorter hull and an organized, seated fishing setup are priorities. It is 13 lb lighter on the published figures than the Catch Classic 100, though the way you lift it still matters.

The trade-off

The 275 lb maximum load needs careful attention once tackle, water and a cooler are on board. A Catch Classic 100 offers a higher 350 lb rating and a four-inch-wider hull, at the cost of extra weight and storage space.

Before you choose

Check the ExoPak and its rod holders when comparing a package or used boat. Do not assume an open deck makes standing appropriate for you; follow the model instructions and your ability.

Work through the choosing checklist and plan transport and storage before the first outing.
